A Week in the Life :: Day 1

You know how much I love doing the 10 on 10 project, so I am taking it a step further and participating in Ali Edward's "A Week in the Life." The idea of taking the everyday ordinary and finding beauty in it, really acknowledging & appreciating your every day routines, and living in the moment. It is so easy to just got lost in the day & never remember it simply because it is ordinary. That is what I love so much about the 10 on 10 project, and why I am thrilled to participate in this. I can look back a year from now and maybe my life will be completely and totally different or maybe it will be exactly the same! So this is going to be pretty much a play-by-play of my week, what I am doing, what I am thinking and of course photos along the way...if you are bored already, you can stop reading. ♥

Day 1: Monday, July 25, 2011

::Photo of me today::
I am trying to hard to make some changes in my life. My pain is better, but not gone. I have a job but it's not what I want to do forever. I am still getting very little sleep. I am trying to get more exercise, find balance, and manage my time better. I feel great about how far I have come but now that I am finally feeling a little better, I am working hard to reach certain goals.
But this morning I woke up feeling like I was moving through mud. A bad night of sleep (standard), back hurting, just exhausted and in a fog. Getting going was tough. After finishing a few things for work I made myself an iced latte, sat on the back patio and took a sip and a deep breath - mentally & physically. The nice thing about working from home is I can sit outside in my pajamas with my coffee and listen to whatever music I want. It's funny how sometimes I just want to be alone...to work with no distractions and no one to bother me, other times I want & need one-on-one interaction with someone, and other times I don't want to talk to anyone but just want the white noise of people moving around me - that is when I work at Starbucks.

Work wasn't bad, but it wasn't easy getting through with how tired and blah I was feeling. I needed a boost somehow.
So I first did a 30 minute workout in the living room then walked down to the beach (those are jumping jacks).

Nothing like a little sun, fresh air and the ocean to make me feel better.
The beach was so crowded but I didn't mind, I love to people watch and I felt really calm walking along, dipping my toes in the water and of course snapping photos.
I was laughing to myself because all the tourists on the beach probably thought I was an out-of-towner as well.
Do you ever like to pretend you are a tourist in your home town, taking photos of your surroundings as if you are seeing it all for the first time?
I returned feeling refreshed.
Enjoyed some comfort food of mac n' cheese & chicken nuggets for dinner with Brent, watched a few episodes of Weeds, and at the end of the day felt much better than when I started it. Success.

  1. Oh my gosh...what a wonderful post!! I remember the days of working from home...but after resting (due to my MS) I was stuck to the computer. But felt blessed to be able to do this and keep up with my work at home!! smile... Now had I had the availability of the ocean and the fun I'm afraid I'd never get anything done...lol

    Blessings...

  2. I love playing tourist in San Francisco. Your surf photos are great, I feel like I can smell the salt air when I look at them.
